Filtration, or remediation, uses media (such as activated carbon) and/or size exclusion filters to remove undesired substances (see figure below). Depending on your source biomass and extraction technique, you may want to remove substances such as chlorophyll and pesticides to both improve your product and to comply with regulatory agencies.
This guide (see image below) is meant to serve as a starting point for choosing your filtration media for use in N.B.Oler’s Aqua-Tech columns. You will need to optimize your remediation media based on your process, solvent, and source material.
